Baby Dedication - Food

Cooking actually started Friday afternoon, with Mai, a good friend of Crystal, and her entourage. As anywhere else in the world, cooking for large groups is a special talent. Mai has it! We borrowed pots and dishes from the Baptist Center and about 70 people were served breakfast AND dinner! Breakfast was 'laax' (lock), like oatmeal, with either yogurt sauce, 'sow' (so), or peanut sauce, 'neteri' (ne-tuh-ree) and was served about 11:00. (Senegalese eat 2 breakfasts, one early and one mid-morning.) Dinner was 'ceebu yapp' (che-boo-yap), an excellent dish of rice, meat (beef), and vegetables all cooked together, like a cross between a casserole and a stew.
