Baby Dedication - Ceremony

The Baby Dedication Ceremony took place on the roof under the hut. Pastor Seikou (say-koo), a friend of Crystal's from when she was in Senegal before, shared a short message, slipping in a gospel presentation, and prayed for Caleb and us. His message established the biblical basis for a baby dedication and explained how it was different than the Muslim/Senegalese tradition of an 'ingente' (in-gin-tay) which is a baby naming with a sacrifice, and how it was different than the Catholic tradition of infant baptism. Pastor Seikou spoke in French and one of the drummers translated into Wolof. The prayer time was very moving as Pastor Seikou led the whole group in praying not only for Caleb and his parents, but for all the children in our neighborhood, the city, and the country.
