Ridin' Horses

Chase still loves cowboys, horses, and cows. Yesterday, getting ready for church, he said he wanted to be a cowboy, so he wore his jeans, cowboy shirt, boots, belt, and hat to church. He takes a backpack to church every week with a couple of toys, his Bible, offering, and coloring book with crayons. Yesterday, he took cows and horses to church to play with. After church, he wanted to ride horses with Grandma. Pictured here are Chase, riding Black Beauty, and Grandma, riding James; both horses were named by Chase (a third horse in our living room is named Tophat). Chase has a step stool that he pretends is a horse that he calls Blackie. I asked Chase one day if Blackie was a painted horse, because the step stool has several natural wood colors in it (though, ironically, not black). Later, Chase said, "I'm painting Blackie." "Oh really," I said, "What color are you painting him?" Chase replied in his usual serious tone, "Blue." I think what put him in a cowboy mood for church was listening to Paul Bogart's CD with the 'Auctioneer' song on Saturday.
