Tabaski

Today was a big holiday for Muslims called Tabaski. Every family makes a sacrifice of atonement, usually a sheep (similar to the Jewish sacrifice of atonement as decreed in Exodus). Every family member gets a new outfit to wear after the sacrifice and they eat much like we do at Thanksgiving or Christmas - till you're about to pop! Our neighbors, the Diop family, invited us to spend the day with them (From left, Chantal, Maimuna, Tam, Iba, & Mama). We joined them after the sacrifice and prayer time in the morning. They bar-b-qued two big sheep, and we had potatoes, sauted onions, and pickled vegetables to go with it.
