The Dakar Rally is a race from Europe to Dakar (this year it started at Lisbon, Portugal). Ginger and Chad saw the final leg of the race today. There are three categories - motorcycles, cars, and trucks. This leg of the race started on the beach, where they raced high-speed on the smoother sand, and then it turned back parallel with the beach over the sand dunes of the desert. We got to watch them come down the beach, and then we ran over the sand dunes to where they raced back by. It was constant excitement. I'm not a big racing fan, but it was awesome! My only regret was not taking Chase, but we didn't know what it would be like. I'll take him next year. After the race, we returned to the house and I took Chase back out to where they had all the race cars on display. Chase liked climbing on the cars (many of which were for sale!), but he wouldn't let me take his picture with the drivers. I think they were intimidating in their big racing suits. Many people commented on 'the cowboy' as we walked around.
