Mariama

Mariama is Chase's baby-sitter. She stays with Chase while Crystal is at language school, usually three or four hours a day. Sometimes, like today, when we had all day language class, she stays longer. Mariama teaches Chase French and Wolof, and Chase teachers her English. For the most part, she follows Chase around and cleans up after him, but we are teaching her to be pro-active in engaging him in games and activities as well as to set rules for him and enforce them. Really, baby-sitting Chase is not difficult most of the time - just set him loose on a pile of sand and he'll stay busy for hours!
